Abstract

The topic of this study is the professionalization of training actions and the development of the employability of graduates from the faculties: the case of the University of Yaoundé I. This study’s main objective was to analyse the impact of the professionalization of training actions on the development of the employability of graduates from the university faculties of the University of Yaoundé I. This study is set within a context marked by the need for Cameroonian Universities to adapt their training programs to the demands of the labor market. Facing the challenge of persistent skills mismatch between education and the job market, the research aimed to identify the most effective levers for improving professional integration. To carry out this research successfully, we adopted a quantitative approach using a correlational design, targeting a sample of 123 students across the University of Yaoundé 1’s faculties. The results revealed extremely strong and statistically significant correlations between all professionalization mechanisms and employability. The most determining factors were the involvement of professionals (R=0.930) and the implementation of the occupational-approach curriculum (R=0.928), demonstrating that the solution lies in directly importing business norms and culture into the academic institution. The main suggestion is the implementation of a Collaborative Employability Governance Model (CEGM). This model requires the University of Yaoundé 1to institutionalize program co- construction through formal strategic partnerships, make work-study and internships mandatory, and generalize the occupational approach, thereby transforming the degree into a new qualification convention recognized by the market.
