Industrie et consommation de l’éthanol // odontol// dans la culture fong de zoetele sud-Cameroun : une contribution à l’anthropologie culturelle

Abstract

This work focuses on : « Industrie et consommation de l’éthanol //odontol// dans la culture Fong Zoétele sud-Cameroun : une contribution à l’Anthropologie culturelle ». The problem of this research is to analyze the role and value of the production and consumption of odontol in the Fong community of Zoétele. This problem led us to ask the following questions: how do the Fong people perceive the industry and consumption of odontol? What are the representations of odontol in the Fong culture? What are the activities related to this phenomenon? What is the impact of this production and consumption in the commune of Zoétele? From these questions, we can formulate hypotheses such as: the Fong people perceive the industry and consumption of odontol as a cultural and ancestral phenomenon participating in the respect of producers and consumers; this drink is consumed during traditional ceremonies, weddings, baptisms and conviviality’s; odontol is a heritage for this people, an economic source, a political and social catalyst. From our hypotheses, we formulate the following objectives: to examine the representations and perceptions that the people have of the industry and consumption of odontol; to cite the cultural activities related to the industry and consumption of odontol among the Fong of Zoétele, and, to show the cultural impact of the industry and consumption of odontol. Our research is to promote local development and have a young generation dedicated to development. This not only promotes the valorization of other cultural elements but also the protection of customs and traditions. To achieve the verification of these hypotheses, we were involved in documentary research and fieldwork. The qualitative method, analysis and interpretation of the data collected allowed us to confirm our different hypotheses. At the end of our various surveys, we were able to note that the industry and consumption of ethanol //odontol// in the Fong culture of Zoétele, an activity that must be controlled among producers as well as distributors. As for consumers, they will have to make the effort to improve and know their consumption limits to avoid damage and offending users every time they take odontol. This commitment will help us achieve sustainable development and promote a better future for future generations.
