| Résumé: | In order to balance economic development with environmental protection and respect for social rights, Cameroon has developed a set of instruments, among which the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) holds a prominent place. In this perspective, the Brasseries du Cameroun have integrated the principles of the Environmental and Social Management Plan established by the Cameroonian State. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the ESMP. To do this, the study relied on two main categories of data and a more or less representative sampling. The categories of data mobilized for this study primarily consist of primary data (questionnaires, interviews, direct observations, etc.) and secondary data (theses, dissertations, etc.). The sampling on which the study was conducted consisted of various resource persons, including: Senior Service Manager, QHSE Center, Environmental Manager, Junior Commercial Service Manager, employees (the working staff at the production site, workshop managers, the wastewater treatment station manager), partners (Namen Recycling), and local populations. We proceeded with random sampling for the selection of resource persons. This method is justified by the fact that our research is primarily qualitative, utilizing qualitative research data collection technique. Overall, it appears that the production unit of SABC in Yaoundé has indeed integrated the ESMP, but its implementation remains mixed. Indeed, the results show that 50% of the measures outlined in the ESMP have been satisfactorily implemented, while 50% are deemed unsatisfactory. The main shortcomings concern plastic waste management and relationships with local residents, highlighting the need to improve dialogue with communities and intensify efforts to optimize waste collection and treatment. Although some measures have been implemented, their effectiveness is limited. Recommendations are proposed, including actions to strengthen relationships with local residents, improve waste collection, and optimize plastic waste management strategies. The study emphasizes the importance of effective collaboration between SABC, competent authorities, and local communities to achieve environmental and social sustainability goals |
