This study, which focuses on “the evaluation of the implementation of youth empowerment policies in Cameroon" is the result of an academic work built on an observation: the development and implementation of multiple public policies aimed at the professional integration and empowerment of young people in Cameroon for more than ten years renders the situation of this segment of the population to be desired. Therefore, this study high lights the strategies for implementing public policies for the empowerment of young people. The question that constitutes the cornerstone of this work is: How are public policies for youth empowerment operationalized in Cameroon? In other words, it is a question of examining the social logics of the actors in the process of implementing youth empowerment policies and highlighting the strategies for operationalizing these policies. This led us to hypothesize that the implementation of public policies on youth empowerment in Cameroon does not take in to account the representations that young people have of them. The data collected in the field through interviews, questionnaires survey and documentary research allowed us to confirm our main hypothesis. Indeed, we were able to establish that apart from all the policies set up in favor of employment and self-employment of young people, the Support Program for Rural and Urban Youth (PAJER-U) remains one of the oldest and its implementing actors are, among others, the state institution, civil people. However not everyone finds the opportunity to Society organizations and young fully assume their role. In addition, we found that many obstacles hinder the achievement of effectiveness and efficiency of the said program. Faced with these obstacles, young people develop work around strategies. This is why we have made suggestions for this program to improve its implementation strategy, thus encouraging more young people to take a genuine interest in it.fr_FR
