Résumé: This thesis examines forced migration and the resilience of refugees in a humanitarian emergency context through the study of Central African refugees settled in Gore of southern Chad. While the literature often emphasizes the role of humanitarian actors and public policies, it tends to neglect the capacity of refugees themselves to develop survival strategies adapted to host contexts. Observation of these communities in exile shows that refugees reinterpret and transform their daily practices to cope with the constraints and opportunities offered by host villages. Confronted with forced migration and humanitarian emergency, Central African refugees actively develop strategies and know-how to adapt to exile. The research question focuses on identifying the adaptation strategies used to address the challenges of humanitarian emergency. The hypothesis is that these strategies rely on interconnected mechanisms combining the search for immediate solutions and the establishment of more sustainable support through progressive integration into the economic and social networks of host communities. Based on a qualitative methodology using interviews, life histories, and observations, the analysis shows that refugees develop survival strategies beyond humanitarian assistance, including economic, social, and symbolic practices, enabling them to face immediate crises and initiate a process of stabilization and progressive integration.
