| dc.description.abstract | Reading comprehension is a major problem in all educational systems. The 2019 PASEC ( Program for the Analysis of Education Systems) report presents the results of assessments in mathematics and in the language of instruction for students at the end of primary school. PASEC assesses the knowledge and skills of students in Francophone Sub-saharan African Countries. In Cameroon, students at the end of primary school record a reading success rate of just 53,7% (PASEC 2019). Cameroon ranks among the countries where most students are below the language proficiency threshold: 60,6%. These unsatisfactory results show that learning does not automatically lead to comprehension. All learning leads to understanding. This study examines the problem of text comprehension in Cameroonian primary school . Several studies have explored the understanding of reading text. It is influenced by various factors such as cognitive processes, learning strategies, and socio-economic conditions. In this research, we focused on socio-cognitive factors. Student motivation encompasses both. The research question is: what aspects of student motivation influence reading comprehension in Mimboman primary school? The hypothesis is that : the satisfaction of psychological needs for self-determination influence reading comprehension in Mimboman primary school. The objective of this study is to analyze the link between student motivation and comprehension of reading text in primary schools. It is an experimental study by random samply.
