| Résumé: | The literature on the issue of visual impairment is vast and diverse. From the associative essence to the development of empowerment skills, as well as capacity building and advocacy, researchers have explored it from various angles. However, writings on the case of CJARC remain quite limited. While its actions in the fight for the empowerment of visually impaired individuals are resonant, many levers still need to be activated for a better impact. This is the very foundation of this study. Consequently, the present research primarily focuses on associative dynamics and the empowerment of visually impaired individuals at CJARC. Indeed, this study reflects on the initiatives implemented by CJARC to enable the empowerment of visually impaired persons. In this regard, the general objective is to present CJARC as a major actor in the socio-professionalization of visually impaired individuals. To achieve this, the research methodology was qualitative, and the sampling was based on a case study conducted with five (5) visually impaired individuals from CJARC, including two leaders of the organization, two trainers, and a former member currently living abroad. This sampling led to a semi-structured interview for data collection, and the method of analyzing this data was oriented towards content analysis. At the end of this process, the results obtained highlight the initiatives, actions, and strategies implemented by CJARC to empower visually impaired individuals. The activity reports since its inception, the five-year action and strategy plans, and the three-year reports sufficiently present the dynamics within CJARC through various training programs (pedagogy, crafts, carpentry, etc.), partnerships with several national (MINAS, MINESEC, etc.) and international (MEB, CBM, La Cause Foundation, etc.) actors, sports and leisure activities, as well as professional integration practices through recruitment in different CJARC entities. In summary, CJARC contributes to the socio-professionalization of visually impaired individuals in light of all that has been mentioned and is thus a lever for development and an indispensable actor in achieving the SDGs, even though better support would amplify these results. |
