Inventaire préliminaire du patrimoine culturel dans la Mefou et Afamba

Abstract

Our work concerns the inventory of the cultural heritage of Mefou and Afamba. This study is of great importance for Cameroon in general and the locality of Mefou and Afamba in particular. It reveals a scientific, historical and cultural interest. Our main objective was to comply a compressive inventory of the cultural heritage of Mefou and Afamba by identifying historical buildings, traditional dances, and traditional musical instruments Our first secondary objective was to assess the state of conservation of the identified cultural asset and elements by evaluating the threats the face, such as urbanization and globalization. Our main objective was to ensure the protection, conservation and safeguarding of cultural heritage in Mefou and Afamba. Our first secondary objective was to establish inventory records of the cultural asset and elements collected in the field. Our third secondary hypothesis was to strengthen measures of the promotion, protection, and preservation of this cultural heritage that could be used by local authorities, ONG, and other relevant actors to guide their actions. The pre-inventory was used for collecting data in the field and conducting interviews with the local population, while the inventory was carried out using the selective inventory method, participatory inventory method, digital inventory method, and ethnographic inventory method. As research results, we presented data through architectural inventory forms, objects inventory forms, inventory forms of tangible cultural elements, cartographic data, and graphic data. For our future perspectives, our research serves as a data source for the decentralized territorial communities of Mefou and Afamba, the safeguarding of cultural heritage and urban planning. Our research work is also a data source for academics and researchers.
