dc.description.abstract | In the school milieu, human values are manifested in the daily routine, and measuring them is a challenge and a dilemma. However, Cameroon's new National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (NDS 2030) document improves the objectives of the DSCE requiring that social and emotional skills be taken into account in the teaching and learning process. (Annual Report 2020). There are few instruments capable of assessing the relationship between sport, education and the Olympic values, which are, at the limit, human and civic values. The aim of this study is to observe student responses regarding the promotion of the Olympic Values Education Program and the behavior of young people in the school milieu, in order to estimate the evidence for the validity and accuracy of the Scale of educational and Olympic values. We interviewed 106 students ranging in age from 14 to 21 with an average of 15.7, our sample population consisted of 55% boys and 45% girls. The sample was drawn from two (02) secondary schools. A public schools (Lycée de Ahala, 52 students) and a private denominational school (College Jean TABI, 54 students). The students from our sample come out from the class of 3emes, 2nd, 1st and Tle in the two (02) school. More than half, or about 55% of the sample, is made of students of 3emes and 2nd, 12.26%, 22% from 1er and Tle represents 10.38%. By using the descriptive analysis technique (univariate and bivariate) in order to verify our four (04) hypothetical variables it emerges that, according to the first hypothesis which is the joy of effort in sport, 58.70% of 3emes year students, 15.21% of 2nd students, 17.39% of 1er and 8.70% of Tle students believe that sport allows them to work more to be better in everything, with a P-value of 0.00041 greater than 5, the hypothesis is accepted. The second hypothesis, which is fair play in sport, shows that 48.78% of 3emes students, 24.39% of 2nd students, 12.20% of 1er students and 14.63% of those of Tle believe that sport allows them to be fair play, with a P-value of 0.00041 greater than 5, the hypothesis is accepted. The third hypothesis, respect for others through sport, shows that 66.1% of 3emes students, 16.94% of 2nd students, 11.86% of 1er students and 5.1% of those in Tle say that through sport they learn to respect others, the P-value of this hypothesis is 0.0043 greater than 5, the hypothesis is accepted. As for the fourth hypothesis, 37.50% of 3emes students, 15.62% of 2nd students, 40.63% of 1er and 6.25% of those in Tle think that sport allows them to give their best, the P-value of this hypothesis is 0.000 less than 5, the hypothesis rejected. Definitely, this study shows that the values of Olympism which are the joy of effort, fair play, and respect for others and the search for excellence lead young people to change their behavior and promote a better and peaceful world. | fr_FR |
