Résumé: | Literature from the Middle Age to modern time draws its source of inspiration and vitality from mythology. With the diversity of myths that exist in the literary and social fields, the myth of Narcissus arises. In its multiple and varied studies, this research aims to explore the modalities of reinvestment of the myth of narcissus in Bel-Ami by Guy de Maupassant and Confession for a computer by Felicia Mihali. The methodological framework favored in this work is the Mythocriticism of Gilbert Durand focused on highlighting myths in order to identify a social reconstruction of the aspect studied. As for the theoretical framework, the Postmodernism of Jean François Lyotard serves as an ideological benchmark from examining the myth of Narcissus, with the comparative approach of Claude Pichois and Michel Rousseau. It is clear that the myth of narcissus relates to the construction of the image, the reflection and representation of the social individual. The hypotheses that underlie this reflection demonstrate that the theme of the myth of Narcissus informs both texts. We first approach the myth of Narcissus from its original angle through its myths. Secondly, its multiple combined elements abound in the intrigues. And thirdly, the ideological contribution of writers which place it in its relationship with the media in a utopia. The myth of narcissus then becomes for guy de Maupassant and Felicia Mihali a major theme of birth and technological advancement in connection with literature to thus give rise to intermediality |
