Our current study is entitled « Motivational determinants and academic success of students at the public primary school in Atrone in the 7th district of the city of N'Djamena in Chad: the case of middle school 2 students. » In the course of our work, we aim to determine the motivational factors that contribute to academic success and to show the different factors that may or may not contribute to academic success. Thus, the problem posed in this study is the influence of the educational community on students’ academic success. From this problem, a research question arises: What are the motivational determinants of students’ academic success? To address this problem, a general hypothesis is proposed: motivational determinant have an impact on academic success students. Then we have identified three specific hypotheses: Specific Hypothesis 1: The perception of the value of an activity positively influence the academic success of students at the public primary school of Atrone; Specific Hypothesis 2: The perception of their skills to accomplish this task has a positive influence on their academic success; Specific Hypothesis 3: The perception of controllability of an activity has a possible impact on the academic success of students at the public primary school of Atrone; We have chosen the qualitative method and used the interview guide for data collection. We conducted semi-structured interviews with twelve (12) students. Thus, our three hypotheses are validated, which leads us to believe that the motivational determinants have an impact on the academic success of students. The processing of qualitative data allowed us to show the importance that student give to school, the existence of school textbooks, the knowledge that student develop, the controls they have over school activities and evaluations. Teachers’ objectives promote academic success. Suggestions were made to the authorities responsible for National Education, heads of establishments, teachers and students themselves.fr_FR
