Résumé: This research paper is entitled: « Application of measure on open and distance education in secondary schools and school work in the city of Yaoundé ». The problem raised by this study is the poor application of measure on open and distance learning in secondary schools. This has a negative impact on students' schoolwork. Hilary Perraton's theory of distance learning is the main theory used. The main research question is formulated as follows: What is the impact of open and distance learning on students' academic work in secondary schools in the city of Yaoundé? The answer to this question constituted our general hypothesis which is: G.H: The application of measure on open and distance learning has an impact on the school work of pupils in the city of Yaoundé. The operationalisation of this hypothesis led to the following three research hypotheses: R.H.1: The creation of Multimedia Resource Centres has an impact on the schoolwork of pupils in the city of Yaoundé.R.H.2: The training of teachers in the management of online courses has an impact on the schoolwork of pupils in Yaoundé. R.H.3: Monitoring and evaluation of open and distance learning has an impact on the school work of students in Yaoundé. To test these hypotheses, we administered a questionnaire to a sample of 150 teachers in three schools in Yaoundé: Lycée Général Leclerc, Lycée Bilingue d'Essos and Lycée de la Cité Verte. The Chi-square test was used to test these hypotheses. The results obtained validate R.H.1, R.H.2, R.H. 3 at the significance threshold α = 0.05 with high contingency coefficients, respectively: C=0.70 for R.H.1; C=0.64 for R.H.2; C=0.64 for R.H.3. In the end, the general hypothesis of this research was validated. We can therefore conclude that the application of measure on open and distance learning has an impact on pupils' school work in the city of Yaoundé. The study mainly suggests that teachers should set up ICT knowledge exchange and sharing groups to help them adapt and appropriate methods for digitising, scripting and disseminating digital lessons; for pupils, it suggests that the secondary school guidance counselor should organise access to games areas and draw up a timetable for each class to visit the multimedia resource centre. Those in charge of the multimedia resource centre in schools to carry out an ongoing written assessment of the number of pupils using the facility. And to school heads and authorities in charge of secondary education, to set up another multimedia resource centre in other schools to improve students' academic performance by introducing them to ICT.
