Résumé: Prominent topics on religious fundamentalism have become a major issue among novelists. This is why the present study is devoted to analyzing the representation of this ideology through novels of several contemporary writers. To account for this extremist, disenchanted and transgressive imaginary, we entitled our work: Discourses on religious fundamentalism: Reading of some contemporary novels. Based on the sociocriticism of Edmond Cros, the present study is interested in the aestheticization of religious fundamentalism in order to determine its ideological stakes. By so doing, our work opens with the research of the socio-historical and ideological factors of religious fundamentalism. Thereafter, we explore the modalities of the representation of this social phenomenon. By and large, the research ends with an interrogation of religious cultures as a whole. Structurally, the study is articulated around three main parts, each with two chapters. The first part is devoted to a careful analysis of the motivations of religious fundamentalism. It thus identifies the socio-political, historical and ideological aspects that can lead individuals to radicalization. The second part analyzes the influence of these socio-historical and ideological elements on textualization. These hybrid discursive and narrative modalities constitute a kind of mediation that allows us to give a new orientation to the issue of religious fundamentalism. The third part plunges us into a reorientation of the fundamentalist phenomenon that allows us to question religious cultures and the meaning of the history of religions. Thus, the writing of religious fundamentalism is presented as the rejection of all forms of totalitarianism and postulates the utopia of a world without religion, likely to let humanity live its spirituality beyond the religious shackles.
